Have you lost 3G service on your HTC Thunderbolt recently? Before you do a hard reset, try this -->

Go to the ThunderBolt's phone dialer. Enter ##778# and hit Send.
You'll get a pop-up labeled EPST, with the choice to "View Mode" or "Edit Mode." You want "Edit Mode."
You'll be asked for a password. It's 000000.
Now flip down to "Modem Settings," and then choose "Rev. A."
Change the setting from eHRPD to "Enable," hit OK, then press the Menu button on the phone and tap "Commit Modifications."

That's it. You're done. The phone will reboot (don't worry, you're not losing any data here), and things should, you know, actually work. As landale points out, you'll want to change this setting back once Verizon gets its network sorted out. But in the meantime, enjoy your, erm, new 3G! [Android Central Forums]

This is my Top Ten Tech Toys for Christmas 2010. Technology has brought us lots of goodies since last Christmas. It was difficult to pick just ten. Just like you, I love my Droid Incredible. Even when talks of the Droid X popped up and you were still within your 30 day return policy, you hung in there, like a champ. Originally launching with inferior software compared to it's cousin the HTC Evo, you practiced patience and you knew that Froyo was right around the corner.

After all, you liked how the Incredible performed and how it felt in your hand compared to other android devices on Big Red. But although you were satisfied, thoughts of 720p video recording, Mobile Hotspot Goodness, Voice Actions and everything that 2.2 had to offer had you juiced!

Then then a couple of weeks ago, D-Day hit. This was the day that we were all waiting for. I was so excited I couldn't wait for the OTA update so I manually upgraded my device. After recording and testing the new video recording options and messing around with some other newness, an hour later my battery was dead. No worries, after all I was killing the boards with my tests and I had a spare battery anyway.

So I popped in my fully charged spare battery, chilled with the testing and 3 hours later, my other battery was dead. Still not panicking I put my Incredible to charge. I came back an hour later and my battery only went up 10%. That's when I knew that something was wrong. Froyo #FAIL!!

For the past two weeks this has been the story for many Incredible owners such as myself.

Then a little bit of hope came this morning. A call from a friend who also owns an Incredible who knows this guy (I'll tell you about him in another post). This guy told my buddy to uninstall Advanced Task Killer to optimize performance. His theory is that Froyo doesn't need it and it's probably causing the OS to work harder than it has to.

With nothing to lose, 24 hours ago, I tried it. Results? Success. Prior to me getting rid of ATK my battery meter told me that Android OS was using 83% of my resources. Without it after several tests, I averaged 25%. I checked running services and low and behold, there weren't any apps running without my permission. Battery life was decent and my charging time decreased.

Overall, I'm still looking forward to HTC dropping a fix for the other bugs (contacts being erased and other craziness) but right now, I am happy with this fix for my battery issues. Go on and delete Advanced Task Killer!
